UO Excellence in Advising Awards

The Division of Undergraduate Studies and the All-Campus Advising Association (ACAA) invite nominations for the annual University of Oregon Excellence in Advising Awards. One outstanding faculty advisor and one outstanding professional advisor will each receive a $2,000 award, generously provided by The Division of Undergraduate Studies. The recipients who best exhibit the qualities associated with excellent advising will be recognized at an awards brunch on Thursday, May 28.Faculty, students, staff, and officers of administration are welcome to nominate faculty and professional advisors who exemplify excellence in advising and meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Outstanding Professional Advisor: Any professional whose job dictates that the majority of his/her responsibilities are in advising.
  • Outstanding Faculty Advisor: Any appointed tenure track, non-tenure track, or adjunct faculty member who mentors or advises undergraduate students in addition to significant teaching and research responsibilities.

Nomination Process: Please nominate advisors by completing the nomination form on the ACAA website: http://acaa.uoregon.edu/awards/

Nominations are due Friday, March 13.

Nominees will be notified by e-mail and given the opportunity to submit an application for the Excellence in Advising Award. The application will include the following:

  • A brief statement addressing how the nominee exemplifies excellence in advising
  • At least one letter of recommendation

A review committee comprised of faculty members, professional advisors, and university administrators will select the recipients. Please forward this e-mail to colleagues who may be interested in applying or submitting a nomination(s).

Last year, Dr. Josh Snodgrass, Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology received the Outstanding Faculty Advisor award. Kim Rambo-Reinitz, Assistant Director for Academic Advising in the Lundquist College of Business, received the Outstanding Professional Advisor award.
