ACAA Friends – Many of you are likely already familiar with the Portland Internship Experience program, a summer program in which students complete an internship that allows them to make a difference in the Portland community – while also receiving a $7,000 stipend and career preparation/networking support.
As you’ll see below: The team at UO-Portland could use a few more staff members to help out as readers of student applications. I can speak from past experience as a reader: It really is inspiring to read what our students are including in their applications.

Dear SLLT Colleagues,
Greetings from the Portland Campus! It’s been quite the whirlwind of a year here and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to join you in a meeting/retreat soon. I miss you!!!
We are currently looking for additional members of faculty/staff to serve on the internship application review committee for the Portland Internship Experience Program. This committee will review and evaluate applications from UO students who have applied to the program. This is a 6-8 hour commitment over 3 weeks in February. Please share this opportunity widely, many hands make light work!
Commitments for readers this year include the following:
- We anticipate each reader will read between 20 – 30 applications
- Reading Committee training meeting – 1 hr | Friday, 2/7 @ 1pm
Review instructions for the review process and practice scoring
- Reading Days & Partner Meetings – 4-6 hrs| 2/12- 2/26
Readers score applications individually and then meet with a partner at a mutually agreeable time to identify shared top applicants
- Final Selection/Debrief Meeting – 1 hr | Thursday, 2/27 @ 1pm
Full committee comes together to finalize an accepted list and reflect
